Things Are Looking Up!

I must say this week is going very well! I've had my first real photography job, and now this! I should explain what THIS is first of all so my blog makes sence. A few weeks ago I was talking to my friend Tara, Tara works in the film/TV industry. She owns Charlie Mac Productions out in Nova Scotia. I was telling her how much I love the travel show BUMP! on Out TV. I've seen every episode and would love to be a part of the show.

So she emailed a few people, and we found out that they have internships every four months. The next one availible is from September to December. So today I got a email saying please send us your resume! How Fabulous is that! I'm so Excited! I'm supposed to go to school in the fall for photography, but if I get this internship school can wait!

This is a once in a lifetime oportunity that I will not let it pass me by! I really hope I get this job.

For all of you who don't know what BUMP! is check it out. It's the Best Gay and Lesbian Travel show out there. And it's Canadian! Which is even better, here's the link.

Second Day Of PMI

So today was another early start I was at the PMI confrence for 7:00am. I helped my dad get everything prepaired for the morning. At breakfast we had a Keynote Speaker giving a speech. He was a Elvis Impersonator from Texas who was supposed to be talking about Project Managment, but instead he gave a 40 minute speach about the pyramids and the Egyptians! I'm not sure how the two tied everything together but people seemed to like it.

But I had a really great day, I was a networking pro! most of the speakers kept coming up to me to ask me about my photography, so I told them I wanted to be a travel photographer and make travel books along the way. One of the presenters asked me to email her photos so she could put them on her website. She is even going to put a link to my website on her website! I'm very excited about this. Things are looking good!

Day One Of The PMI Confrence

Today was my first photography job and it was awesome! I'm working the PMI confrence here in Winnipeg. So I was basically taking photos of all the presenters, and awards that were going on during the day. I had a mini crisis this morning though. I have rented a flash from Don's photo's, and I was doing some test shots and they were going well. After a while the flash stopped working, the screen on the back of the flash was going but the pilot light had turned off. I couldn't figre it out for the life of me as this was my first time using this flash.

So in a panic I called my Mom, I work her up since this wsa 7:45 in the morning but she didn't mind. So I switched the batteries in the flash to see if that did a diffence. After turning the flash back on the pilot light failed to turn on still :(
So I tried another test shot and HOLY FUCK it was bright. The whole photo was brighter then staring at the sun!

After taking four photos of pure whitness the flash settled down and started working like regular. I was so relived I felt that I should call the hospital and tell them to cancel the abulance lol. Panic attack over.

It was smooth sailing for the rest of the day. I got all of the shots I needed to get and I uploaded them to the Laptop and got them ready for the lunch time slideshow. I was a little upset that the projector made my photos look blue today but that was out of my control.

But after my day I have realized I cannot live without this flash. It's amazing! I'm totally going to rent one for New York. It makes my photos look so fabulous.

But I have to get ready for bed since I have to be up at 6:00am. The Keynote speaker of the morning is a Elvis Impersonator who is talking about Pyramids at a confrence for project managment. I'm not sure who this is going to pan out, but I think it will be Hystarical!

Details to come Tomorrow!

Welcome

Hi everyone!

Welcome to my blog. I'm Russel, I'm 24 and a photographer. I'm a gay man who is currently single (hint hint ;) But I love to travel and I want to share my passion for traveling with you. Last year I went on the adventure of a life time I traveled to New Zealand and Australia for 5 weeks with a great group of people.

My Fabulous friend Tara, and her employee's at Charlie Mac Productions. We started May 14th, and went on a Contiki tour through New Zealand. It was a fun filled two weeks. I did so many amazing things, I Zorbed, Black water cave rafted, I Skydived! and of course I drank and had a bloody good time!

After spending two weeks in New Zealand we headed to Melbourne for a week, then headed off to Brisbane for a week with a pit stop at Surfer's Paradise! After that we headed to Sydney for a week and went to the Sydney Film Festival.

I kept a journal of my trip which I have actually turned into a book. I made it for Tara for Christmas. Everyone who works with Tara and I have read the book and Absoulty Loved It. Which makes me very proud. You should check it out at Blurb.com
